The Year 2000 Problem.
(Your P.C. Contd)

From Test Page)..

Now you will be asking, If a TSR is not recommended, and your PC fails the complience test, what do you do ?? Here again you have to ask yourself some questions before applying an answer to the problem. Is your system quite old, or very old ? If it is then it is recommended to replace it, as the best option. Replace your BIOS/RT Clock ? (Somewhat complicated and not easily achieved and not cheap). If you really need to keep your PC or perhaps cannot afford a new one, can you do as suggested in an earlier page, and change the date every day ? If not, then the only other option is to purchase an 'add on' card to be inserted into a slot on your Motherboard. This is hardware and therefore not likely to be removed, and will interupt all date calls within your system and supply the correct year 2000 date. This is not the ideal choice, but if you dont have any other option then they are not expensive, about 50 or $75, or cheaper. One company supplying these is 'Eurosoft' (www.Eurosoft-uk.com) but there are others also in America and Europe supplying them as well. You can check the Web for others who might supply them, and they are most often called "Fix 2000 ISA Card".

If you have read all these pages, there is not much more help or advice we can give you, except the issue of software, which is a totally different problem to that of the hardware on your system, and something we shall be dealing with next. We will from time to time, update these pages, and add any further advice we think you should have, so please come back again from time to time and check. There is one free, small program called RTCSEE, which you may find of benefit if you decide to carry out the PC tests on our TestPage. This shows a permanent clock on your screen, ticking away, while you are carrying out tests, and is a good visual aid. We have obtained this small program and hope to include the facility for you to download it from these pages. If we succeed you will find the download option on our TestPage, at a later date. Should this fail, you can ask for a copy on the "Feedback/Order Page".
We also have available a small booklet, explaining all the problems and giving some help with the year 2000 problem. If you would like to purchase a copy of this, or contact us for any other reason, please go to the last page, the "Feedback/Order Page"
